IMPORTANT:
It is recommended that applicants who are traveling to the UK for the first
time start off by applying for a 6 month visa. However, if first-time travelers
wish to apply for a 1, 2, 5, or 10 year visa, they may do so knowing that that
the visa fee is NON-REFUNDABLE should the British Embassy decide, upon its'
discretion, to issue only a 6 month visa. Please note that UKVisas has issued a
worldwide directive that effective immediately and due to the planned
introduction of biometrics in 2007, the British Embassy will not be issuing 10
year visas until further notice. Applicants are therefore advised that
henceforth, and until further notice, the maximum visa duration to be issued
will be 5 years. In the future, and once the biometric system is fully in
place, it will be possible for applicants to apply for a visa valid for 10
years.
